The Cumberland County Exhortation to Pray takes the intercessory ministry of Family Worship Center and encourages the entirety of Cumberand County, Pennsylvania to have a diligent prayer life and have time for intercessory prayer.  It is the Pastor's contention that evry person in Cumberand County, Pennsylvania should know at least four people that are in need of prayer.  If we care about others, and not just ourselves, we should be able to find time in each day to pray for those four, or more, people.

The textual verse for the Cumberland County call to Prayer Ministry is found in I Timothy 2:1 which says, "I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men."  This emphases that this pryer is "first of all."  It does not say second of all or sixteenth of all, but thsi is the primary event of our day.  A consitent prayer life is significant, and interceeding for others is the character of Christ (Heb. 7:25).

I Timothy speaks of four items to be "first of all."  The first one is supplications.  A supplication is a humble and earnest plea indicationg a need for God's Divine help.  A prayer is more of a general category of speaking to God.  A prayer can include a request; however, it can also include thanksgiving, worship, and ascribing to God His glorious attributes.  Thanksgiving expresses a greatful heart that God hears our prayer, cares, and gives us eternal hope.  Finally, intercessions is making a petition on behalf of another.

Since a prayer life is significant to our life and well-being, Family Worship Center studies the characteristics of all manner of prayer.  Ephesians 6:18 says, "Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints."  The ministry of Family Worship Center desires us to have effectual, fervent prayer lives; therefore, we examine the scriptures to understand how to pray in such manner, and put God's word into practice,

To Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, we exhort you not to be prayerless,  but we exhort you to PRAY!
